Delegation from Gubkin University attended the 8th International Student Petroleum Congress “East Meets West”, which took place from 4th to 7th of April 2017 in the AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Gorniczo-Hutnicza), Krakow, Poland.
The Vice-president of the biggest oilfield service company, which operates in more than 85 countries and employs more than 100000 staff, described not only the work features, business activities geography and the company’s main segments but also opportunities for young specialists and cultural alignments. Moreover, he pointed out that the engagement of female engineers in the company’s projects is of the great priority.
On the 8-12th of March, 2017 at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, the 4th Annual Student Energy Conference (ASEC 2017), organized by University of Zagreb SPE Student Chapter took place. This conference is as a unique place for knowledge exchange between students of top European technological universities of the oil and gas industry, as well as establishing connections between students of SPE from different universities. About 70 students from 7 universities took part in the conference.
From 27th of February till 3rd of March the SPE Week took place at Gubkin University.
Activists of Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter prepared a rich programme, offering the students and the professors a chance to visit different events during 5 days.
The first event was the Open Registration day that took place in RU-Energy lobby and provided many students of our university with an answer to the question of how to join SPE easily.
On March, 2nd, 2017, Mr. Saad Ibrahim, the President of Petro Management Group Ltd. delivered a lecture about waterflooding at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University).
In the beginning of the lecture Mr. Ibrahim made a short presentation of his company. He explained that the company provides petroleum-related technical consulting and training all over the world, and he listed the particular areas of knowledge, in which they provide their services.
Another traditional meeting at the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation took place on the 17th of January, 2017.
SPE Moscow Section introduced their project Career Pathways Fair (CPF). The goal of this project is enabling the students to find out more about all aspects of the Petroleum Industry. Each year CPF is a part of the most important and well-known conferences ATCE и Offshore Europe. On the 24th of November, 2016, 8th International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress ‘Oil and Gas Horizons’ was chosen as a platform for organization of this event. Starting January, 2017, CPF will be held monthly at the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation. Lesson course was opened with a lesson by Veronika Koperanova, ‘LUKOIL – engineering’. She presented the characteristics of work, and newest developments of her company and inspired the students to focus on self-development and proffessional growth.
On the 13th of December 2016 time management training was held at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) by business coach and successful entrepreneur, Olga Baranova. The event was organized by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter.
From the 7th to the 11th of December 2016 Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter activists S. Basharov and D. Kolesnichenko participated in the National Forum of the International Education Young Leaders “COMEUNITY”. The forum took place in “Energetik” youth camp in Tyumen. The event was organized by students of Tyumen State University. This year, the Forum was held for the second time. Participants of the event were students from Russia, Ghana, USA and other countries, currently studying in various Russian universities. In total, there were 60 participants.
On the 9th of December Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter, in cooperation with a volunteers’ organization “Reliable Friend” and charity fund “Solar Circle”, held a charity concert, entitled “Give a New Year to Children”.
At the beginning of the event organizers told guests about the social rehabilitation center for children in the town of Suvorov, also about the kids, temporarily living there, and mentioned the difference between the center and ordinary orphanage.
