From 14th till 15th of April the students of Gubkin University took part in Annual Caspian Petroleum Congress (ACPC) in Almaty (Kazakhstan), organized by Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University SPE Student Chapter. The Congress brought together 160 students from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Austria.

The first day of the Congress began with a vivid opening ceremony, at which vice-rector of the Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University Rinat Maratovich, professor Krupnik Leonid Adreyevich, manager of the company ‘Bazis-A’ Kadyrbaeva Laura Kalievna, the chief organizer of ACPC 2017 Akyldzhan Ramazan, and chief organizer of the Job Fair Dina Baimukhanova greeted the guests with a speech.

After this, in the framework of the Job Fair, master-classes by Chevron, Schlumberger, TCO and 1С companies took place. At the same time, the intellectual game Oil Games, and student paper contest SPEConference were held.

The second day of the Congress started with the quarter-finals of the intellectual game Oil Games. Simultaneously, the SPE Talks conference took place, at which successful young people shared their life stories. Here is a list of speakers: Arman Suleymanov, programmist, Ashat Abzhanov, the founder of the leadership school “New Generation of Kazakhstan”, Ablay Yusupov, the head and the founder of “Upgrade” business school, Kanat Beyskeev, film director, and Gulmira Kurnasheva, the representative of the “P&G” company.

After lunch the guests could visit the annual report meeting of the Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University SPE Student Chapter, at which the members of the chapter shared their achievements for the past year, presented their projects and future plans.

After this the finals and semi-finals of the Oil Games took place. The Gubkin University team, which consisted of Yulia Kondrashova, Svetlana Antonova and Alexandra Sherbakova, earned the second place among 16 teams after a very intense competition. At the end of the second day, the closing ceremony and awarding took place, where the winners of the SPE Conference were announced and received certificates and prizes. Elizaveta Litvintseva and Nataliya Odnoletkova won first and second place, respectively.

The delegation of the Gubkin University expresses its sincere thanks to their hosts for organizing such an amazing event, and also the administration of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University), SPE Moscow Section, and SPE Regional Office, for enabling them to participate in Annual Caspian Petroleum Congress.
