From 27th of February till 3rd of March the SPE Week took place at Gubkin University.
Activists of Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter prepared a rich programme, offering the students and the professors a chance to visit different events during 5 days.
The first event was the Open Registration day that took place in RU-Energy lobby and provided many students of our university with an answer to the question of how to join SPE easily.
On 28th of February the Open Doors Day took place. Here the Chapter Committee Heads presented not only the projects, which they are working on, but also SPE International projects, and answered all questions. Moreover, the regional director of SPE Russia and Caspian Anton Ablaev and representative of Moscow SPE Office Yaroslava Orlova attended this event as guests.
The 1st March was especially rich on different events. Ten students of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, who won the contest that was organized in social networks, visited the Schlumberger scientific-research center in Moscow. During the excursion they were told about experiments that are held in one of the best laboratories in Moscow, and about the equipment, which could be found there. Particular attention was given to recently patented technology “Digital core”, which allows one to create a precise three-dimensional layer model on the basis of extracted core sample. Also on the 1st March the senior specialist of HR management of Repsol company Irina Stepanova and the department head of HR management of Repsol company Tatyana Razorenova conducted a training. The main theme of it was the problem of building up a career. The students could find out which specialists are required in large energy companies, such as Repsol at first hand. Finally, another event took place – the lecture given by the Schlumberger company specialist, petrophysicist Alexander Eremeev, on the following subject: “Acoustic logging”. Such questions as physical basics of the acoustic methods, the problems which can be solved through it, the equipment, used by the company (DSI, Sonic Scanner) and its features, and also the interpretation of obtained logging data were considered.
On the 2nd March the master-class “Secrets of scientific work presentation” presented by Riverson Oppong was organized. His performance was itself a visual sample of how should the presentation of anybody’s experience and knowledge be given. The audience was really fascinated with the orator’s speech and tried to find answers to the questions, that were put forward to public discussion, with real interest.
On the 3rd March two events took place: the lecture “Engineering methods of field development technical indices forecast” given by Veronika Korepanova, the lead engineer of LUKOIL-Engineering department of design and analysis of priority deposits development, the lecturer told about the basic indices and processes that accompany the development of oil and gas deposits. Also, some new methods and techniques in this field were presented. Also, during the economic game “Oil rush”, organized by Gubkin SPE Student Chapter, together with the Higher School of Economics, participants tried themselves as top-managers of energy companies, buying and selling deposits and shares, hiring the best managers and trying to make “their company” the market leader.
