In the period from 24th to 29th October representatives of Leoben Mining University Student Chapter (Austria) visited Moscow. It should be noted that the visit was reciprocal: that a few weeks earlier, a delegation from our chapter for the same purpose visited Leoben. In Moscow, the Austrian delegation had a rich cultural and educational program, prepared by our activists. Within a few days the students had time to see the Red Square and the Arbat, try real Russian cuisine, visit the territory of the Kremlin and Armory, ENEA and Poklonnaya Hill, Museum of Cosmonautics.
A whole day was dedicated to our university by the delegation. They visited the lab for testing drilling fluids, went to the department of drilling, as well as visited the landfill equipment. The delegation met with representatives of the pro-rector on innovation and commercialization M.A. Silin, personally gave a little tour of the laboratories of their department. In addition, within the walls of our university they had the opportunity to talk with the president of SPE International 2016, a senior executive advisor to Baker Hughes – D Nathan Meehan. In the evening, the students visited our weekly meetings of the chapter where they presented their chapter, told us about about learning opportunities in their university and exchanged gifts with our university. Our university was awarded a rare copy of the book on the Leoben Mining University, in response our students presented the chronicle of the Gubkin University.
On Wednesday, the students visited the service company Baker Hughes, where they got acquainted with the structure and the company’s projects, as well as their activities in Russia. Afterwards the guys saw the business center – Moscow City. Thus, the Austrian delegation saw the historical and the modern side of Moscow. Our activists were able to provide guests with a very warm welcome. With pleasure we will continue the exchange of experience between our chapters!
