Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter received the award “Gold Standard 2017”

The award is granted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to student chapters, which demonstrated the most remarkable results of activities among the chapters from all over the world.

For assessment the following factors are considered: amount and scale of events, held by the chapter, interaction with teachers and professors of the university, which coordinate professional SPE section and companies, and also the number of members and their involvement in events, held by the society.

The “Gold Standard 2017” award became the sixth for Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter. Previously the chapter received the awards “Outstanding Chapter” (2012, 2014) and “Gold Standard” (2012, 2013, 2015).

Gubkin Talks

At the 28 of April third Gubkin Talks conference was held, which is organized each semester by the SPE Students Chapter.

Gubkin Talks are unique conversation platform for students of Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas. Everyone can give a talk about a topic he is interested in, because on a stage of application there is no limit for the number of participants and themes. Practically GT is a mirror, which has reflected all variety of student’s thoughts, ideas and emotions.

From 14th till 15th of April the students of Gubkin University took part in Annual Caspian Petroleum Congress (ACPC) in Almaty (Kazakhstan), organized by Satbayev Kazakh National Technical University SPE Student Chapter. The Congress brought together 160 students from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Austria.


Meeting with Vice-president HR of Schlumberger Sergey Pershin

The Vice-president of the biggest oilfield service company, which operates in more than 85 countries and employs more than 100000 staff, described not only the work features, business activities geography and the company’s main segments but also opportunities for young specialists and cultural alignments. Moreover, he pointed out that the engagement of female engineers in the company’s projects is of the great priority.
